In addition to the portrait in Oils, I produced this charcoal sketch of the Queen for the Record Reign publication. It was inspired by the Forestier portrait of Queen Victoria commissioned for the original 1897 publication. This allusion to the original portrait suggests that despite the great social and economic changes that have occurred during the 118 years that separate the two works the monarchy endures providing stability in an ever changing world.
